1789 Restaurant Sets the Stage for Romantic Weddings

Washington, D.C., (Spring 2003)-- Lovely antiques, bouquets of roses graciously displayed within a historic setting in Georgetown, and an award-winning chef in the kitchen are the ingredients for the perfect, small, romantic wedding.

1789 Restaurant’s elegant townhouse location on 1226 36th Street is tailored to suit intimate wedding parties, rehearsal dinners and bridal brunches.  Chef Ris Lacoste’s innovative American cuisine and Pastry Chef Joslyn Bergmann’s elegant wedding cakes afford brides the opportunity to have a memorable upscale wedding in a traditional setting.  A standout to consider is a late morning wedding brunch or an afternoon ceremony/reception in the John Carroll Room, complete with a working fireplace and softly filtered light sifting through the windows. This romantic room is a wonderful option for daytime small gatherings of up to 60 guests. For evening weddings, the Middleburg Room with its hunt country charm is another option for a wedding or reception for up to 50 guests.

By combining 1789 Restaurant and F Scott's, the private party Art Deco club next door, a wedding and reception with dancing for up to 100 guests flows well within the two spaces. This concept capitalizes on the best these two settings have to offer: exquisite details that include Limoges china and sparkling crystal, fine artwork and Federal period furniture with a chic bar of vintage Deco décor with ample room for celebrating and dancing.

What truly distinguishes 1789 as the perfect backdrop for any elegant gathering is the exquisite cuisine prepared by 1789’s Executive Chef Ris Lacoste, whose talents have catapulted the restaurant into world prominence.  Lacoste has been a James Beard Foundation nominee for “Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic Region” and she was named “Chef of the Year” in 1999 by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington. And 1789 Restaurant was chosen as “Restaurant of the Yearin 2000 by The Capital Restaurant & Hospitality Awards program in Washington. Furthermore, in August 2001, 1789 Restaurant received Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence for its noteworthy wine list and The Washington Post and Washingtonian magazine both rank 1789 Restaurant as one of the best in the nation’s capital with Ris Lacoste at the forefront.
